GSW Mission, Vision and Values
Mission:
To positively impact the quality of life
for seniors in Denton County
Vision:
We strive to make available to those who need them comprehensive programs
that support the best possible physical and mental health that science can make
available without regard to economic status.
Goals:
Engaging in research, planning and
development activities that:
1) Address issues and problems of availability and access in Denton County to health, education, and supportive services needed by the growing population of older adults
2) Provides suitable housing, independently selected , designed and located with reference to special needs and available at costs that older citizens can afford;
3) Ensure the full restoration of related services for those who require institutional care,
4) Provides a comprehensive array of community-based, long term care services adequate to appropriately sustain older people in their communities and in their homes, including support for family members and other persons providing voluntary care to older individuals needing long-term care services;
5) Ensures efficient community support services, including access to low cost transportation, that enables a choice in supported living arrangements and social assistance in a coordinated manner and are readily available when needed, with emphasis on maintaining a continuum of care for vulnerable older individuals;
6) Ensures freedom, independence, and the free exercise of individual initiative in planning and managing their own lives, full participation in the planning, supports and operation of community based services and programs provided for their benefit, and protection against abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Values:
We believe in the inherent dignity of senior citizens and their right to
live as independently as possible with the fullest diversity of the population
and respect for individual beliefs and rights. We value full access to an array
of community services and supports to help sustain their achievable
independence. We value the inclusion of senior citizens and their care
providers in all aspects of the planning and evaluation of the services and
supports that they receive.
